Introducing Aleksandar “Rocket” Rakic

Aleks Rakić (born February 6, 1992 in Vienna) is an Austrian MMA fighter. He competes in the light heavyweight division of the US organization Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and is nicknamed "Rocket".

On September 2, 2017, Aleksandar Rakic made his official UFC debut at the UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Struve in Rotterdam. He faced the Brazilian Francimar Barroso in the light heavyweight division and won with a unanimous decision from the judges.

Rakic was scheduled to arrive on February 24, 2018 UFC on Fox: Emmett vs. Stephens against Gadzhimurad Antigulov, but the fight was canceled due to an injury to his opponent.

Instead he joined the UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Smith on July 22, 2018 in Hamburg against the American Justin Ledet and won again by unanimous decision. Rakic set a new UFC light heavyweight record by landing 263 hits.

At UFC 231: Holloway vs. Ortega On December 8, 2018 in Toronto, Rakic defeated American MMA fighter Devin Clark by first-round TKO.

Rakic's next win came against Jimi Manuwa, whom he defeated with a left roundhouse kick in the first round. On December 21, 2019, he faced Switzerland's Volkan Özdemir at Fight Night in South Korea, but lost in a controversial decision.

On August 29, 2020, Rakic fought against the American Anthony Smith in Las Vegas and won by unanimous decision after three rounds. He dominated the fight with ground fighting and leg kicks that caused major damage to his opponent.

On March 6, 2021, Rakic faced Brazilian Thiago Santos and won again by unanimous decision. He is currently ranked third in the UFC rankings in his division.

In May 2022, Aleks Rakic lost to former UFC champ Jan Blachowicz due to a knee injury in a fight that he had dominated up to that point.

After a long injury break and a hard road back, Aleksandar Rakic celebrated his comeback at UFC 300, where he lost to number 2 Jiri Prochazka in the second round. A few days before the fight, Aleks suffered from a staph infection in his elbow, without which the fight might have gone differently.

Aleksandar Rakic is already working on his comeback and wants to return to the UFC cage as quickly as possible. Since his time in the USA, he has been training with the renowned American Top Team, among others.
